Neal Adams, the comic book artist remembered for his writing and advanced art for Deadman and Batman, has recently submitted a ‘guest essay’ for the LA Times which discusses the development of superheroes with reference to Steve Ditko.
As you may know (and cleary Adams too) Steve Ditko was a key player in the development of deep and troubled characters which saw the wholesome American hero transformed from an unobtainable alien to a relatable high school teenager.
Although the essay is brief Adam touches important topics like what made Steve Ditko’s work (inc. Spider-man) appropriate.
