Here is some classic Steve Ditko horror from 1960. It is a neat little 5-page story from Journey into Mystery #62 which tells the tale of an arrogant business man who appears to have no morals and boundaries to his wealth. Unfortunately for him, he decides to move into a old house with a cursed tree…will he try to chop it down? Will he survive? Read and find out.
Steve Ditko’s pencils are world-class. What makes them so brilliant is the use of blank white space which dominate the pages giving the story a greater sense of isolation. Only page 5 (last of the pages) contains regular panels; providing an effective, eerie and claustrophobic ending. Here is the full story (click to enlarge):
