Warren: Eerie #8 – Demon Sword!

Some of the best and most interesting work Steve Ditko did in the 60’s was with Warren publishing. With artists like Frank Frazetta and the brilliant Wallace Wood at his side he produced some of his best work to date. During this time at Warren Publishing Steve Ditko’s art was very different from what we would have normally seen; his pencils were ink-washed – this added a depth and boldness not normally seen in his other, more known, books. Below are the highlights of the story (w/ brief captions):

A mysterious sword is stolen by a strange and vicious demon:

Local Professor Brace takes on the challenge of stopping it – sparking the battle of good vs. evil:


In a triumph over evil Brace slays the monster, but finds that he kills himself too:
